The bull of St Luke

The Gospel of Luke

Chapter 13: Overview

We've noted that we are reading 12,54-13,9 as a speech addressed to the crowd which concludes with a parable, 13,6-9. This will be the first page for our reading.

13,10 then has a change of place as we are told Jesus is now speaking in a synagogue on the sabbath.
The healing of the woman is followed by two parables which develop the theme,13,18-21. This is our second page for our reading, 13,10-21.

In verse 22 there is the important comment about Jesus being on his way to Jerusalem. This opens a new section which continues to the end of the chapter. It is divided into two by the introduction of the Pharisees in verse 31 "at that very hour". We can read the two halves together for our third page, 13,22-35.

Chapter 14 opens with another change of scene as Jesus is invited to a meal.

We can return to the main page.
